World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
15th June 2018
This year World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is on Friday 15th June. Please will you support us on or around that day?
Action on Elder Abuse has created this brochure to help give you some ideas about how you could help – an A to Z of events or fundraising ideas appears on pages 3 to 4 – perhaps a (sponsored) wheelchair push draws your eye, or a coffee morning, bake sale, open garden day, name the baby photo competition, bucket collection, or an abseil down a building ….. or perhaps you would just like to raise awareness of the issue in your area.
The brochure also gives ideas on how you can ensure your activity is a success and realise the best return for your time and efforts.
As you know abuse can be financial, physical, sexual, or psychological (emotional), or can be caused by neglect. It affects about 500,000 older people across the UK each year, causing enormous pain and suffering. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is about educating people how to prevent abuse, or how to get help if they are being abused. It is also however about having some fun, whilst supporting a worthy cause.
All you need to do is commit to running an event – please let Action on Elder Abuse know what you plan, when you expect to run your activity, and order any items you need directly from them . Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or queries. Thank-you in anticipation of your support.
